With more than 15 years’ experience in employment and safety law, Jackson is a highly regarded workplace lawyer. He leads Sparke Helmore’s Workplace practice in Brisbane.
Jackson has extensive experience in all aspects of employment and safety law, and responding to serious workplace incidents. He has also negotiated complex national industrial agreements and engaged in Enterprise Bargaining with Unions and other bargaining representatives. He has a proven track record and does his own advocacy in complex employment litigation matters before the Federal Circuit Court, Federal Court and Fair Work Commission.
Jackson’s clients value his experience and advice on the management of difficult employees and misconduct cases that warrant disciplinary action or termination of employment. He also advises clients on all aspects of managing workplace incidents, as well as dealing with and responding to regulators across all jurisdictions.
Jackson works with a vast range of the firm’s clients, from government to insurance and commercial. With his in-house background and deeper understanding of the pressures of a complex business environment, Jackson’s passion lies in helping businesses work through the complexities of the current workplace and safety law environment.
Jackson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Griffith University, a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and a Master of Laws from University of Queensland.
Since 2011, Jackson worked as the Australian and New Zealand Corporate Counsel & Company Secretary for the USA-based MAXIMUS Incorporated (MAX Solutions in Australia), a world leader in government contracting and business process outsourcing. Before that, he worked at top tier law firms in private practice.
Jackson loves anything with two wheels—his favourite events being 1,200km-long charity cycling events and enduro-moto adventure rides. His latest adventure was a moto-safari circumnavigating Tasmania off-road on his much-loved BMW GS1200.
