About Kiley

Kiley is a specialist insurance and construction lawyer with 20 years’ experience resolving disputes on behalf of local and UK-based insurers and private companies as well as front-end contract negotiation.

Kiley is passionate about driving change at all levels so, in addition to her practice, she recently became a member of Sparke Helmore’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She is an advocate for bringing your “whole self” to work—with a long history in the disability community, Kiley is acutely aware of the impact small changes can have on the success of individuals (and businesses, alike) and sees value in the opportunities and perspectives introduced to the workplace when people feel their individuality is supported and allowed to thrive.

What she does

Kiley specialises in financial lines, liability and construction, with a particular emphasis on professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’, management liability, commercial crime, cyber, product recall, property damage, ISR and office bearers. She also provides front-end construction advice, including contract negotiation and risk management.

Kiley’s practice focuses on high value, commercially complex and sensitive matters, indemnity issues and large scale disputes, including class actions. She has experience across a variety of jurisdictions throughout Australia, New Zealand, Europe and South East Asia.

Who she works with

Kiley works with private companies in the construction industry, as well as Australian and overseas insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, underwriting agencies, brokers, TPAs and insured organisations that manage their own under deductible claims.

Qualifications

Kiley holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of New England.

She is also very active in industry groups, with roles and memberships including former President of the NSW Claims Discussion group for four years (following six years as a committee member), and long standing memberships with the Australian Insurance Law Association, Australian Professional Indemnity Group, Property and Liability Discussion Group, Association for Women in Insurance (NSW & Queensland) and NSW Engineering Discussion group.

Life before Sparkes

Kiley joined Sparke Helmore after 20 years with various top tier and boutique insurance firms.

Life outside of Sparkes

Kiley enjoys chasing her energetic toddler and travelling to places near and far. With friends and family across the globe, there are always plenty of opportunities to explore new places, food and wine together.
