The Motor Accident Injuries (Indexation) Order 2026 made under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 commences today, 1 October 2026.
The following variations apply:
- The maximum amount for non-economic loss damages has increased to $712,000 (MAIA s 4.22).
- The maximum weekly statutory benefits amount has increased to $5,264 (MAIA s 3.9).
- The value of a Monetary Unit has increased to $132.18, having previously been $126.95. As a result, the new maximum billable amount for PIC disputes (being 16 Monetary Units) has increased to $2,114.88 (MAIR sch 1 cls 1-3).
