Sparke Helmore Lawyers is delighted to announce that it has been recognised as an Inclusive Employer by the Diversity Council Australia (DCA), coming off the back of the results of the DCA’s recent Inclusion@Work Index.

Every two years, Australian organisations are able to participate in the DCA’s Inclusion@Work Index, which allows them to measure diversity and inclusion in their workforce and compare findings to a DCA-Member Leading Practice Benchmark and a National Index Benchmark (derived from a nationally representative survey of 3000 Australian workers).

"The Index is important because it allows us to measure and monitor the positive impacts of inclusion – on collaboration, innovation and productivity. We believe these are attributes that set us apart, for our people and our clients”, said Sparke Helmore Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee Chair, Gillian Davidson.

The purpose of the Index is to track the state of inclusion in Australian workplaces over time by asking two key questions:

  1. How inclusive is the Australian workforce for a diversity of employees, and how has this changed over time?
  2. What impact does inclusion have on performance and wellbeing?

Sparke Helmore exceed the Benchmarks across all six key criteria – Awareness, Engagement, Inclusive Organisational Climate, Inclusive Leadership, Inclusive Team, and Exclusion.

Phillip Salem, Sparke Helmore’s National Managing Partner, said “This is a wonderful acknowledgment from a respected independent body, so we’re very proud to make the list. We are always looking to improve, and this says that we are heading in the right direction.”
