Matthew Hawker, Partner in our Government team and based in Brisbane, leads Sparke Helmore’s national Government Administrative Law service line. Matthew is a specialist lawyer who practises exclusively in administrative law litigation and Commonwealth compensation claims. He advises on and represents Commonwealth agencies, licensees and insurers in merits review and judicial review matters.
Bernadette Rayment, Partner in our Government team and based in Sydney, is a litigator and advocate with more than 30 years' experience providing legal advice to the Commonwealth Government. She advises on merits review, judicial review and statutory interpretation, and represents clients before Royal Commissions and inquiries.
Katherine Whittemore, Partner in our Government team and based in Melbourne, is an experienced litigator and advocate with expertise both in administrative and criminal law. She regularly appears in Federal and Victorian Tribunals and Courts for Commonwealth and State government agencies in merits review and judicial review matters and related appeals. Katherine acts in complex and high-profile matters as well as criminal and quasi-criminal proceedings. She is experienced in complex statutory interpretation and all aspects of FOI.
Luke Woolley, Partner in our Government team and based in Canberra, specialises in administrative law litigation including NDIA, Commonwealth workers’ compensation and military compensation claims. Luke works closely with his clients to develop solutions for effective claims resolution, is skilled in using a range of alternate dispute resolution processes and frequently appears for clients in merits review applications.
