Luke advises on Commonwealth statutory classes of insurance and administrative law. He regularly appears in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in merits review proceedings and the Federal Court of Australia in judicial review proceedings.
Luke is listed in the AFR's Best Lawyers in Australia 2019 list for Government Practice.
What he does
Luke's expertise lies in providing strategic litigation and claims management advice. He advises on matters of liability, quantum and settlement prospects and works closely with his clients to develop solutions for effective claims resolution. He is skilled in using a range of alternate dispute resolution processes and has also completed secondments with key Commonwealth clients of the firm.

Luke advises and represents Commonwealth Government departments and agencies, insurers and self-insured licensees.
Qualifications
Luke has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Australian National University.
Life before Sparkes
Luke joined the firm as a law graduate in 2008. Before that he undertook a placement at the Welfare Rights and Legal Centre in Canberra, and worked briefly for a sole practitioner.
Life outside of Sparkes
Luke is trying his best to adjust to the life of sleep deprivation that comes with being a new parent. On weekends he loves socialising with friends and family and enjoys getting outdoors in and around the Canberra region.
