Susan is an experienced workplace lawyer who advises on compliance and regulatory matters relating to work health and safety (WHS) and heavy vehicle road transport.
She also advises on building defect claims under the home building legislation.
What she does
Susan assists clients in the management of workplace incidents and advises on WHS obligations and potential liability under the relevant laws. She also advises and represents clients at coronial inquests and inquiries.
Susan advises on residential building defects/home warranty insurance claims under the home building legislation. This includes acting for clients in the Supreme Court, District Court and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).
Who she works with
Susan assists boards, legal counsel and WHS executives in the private and public sectors. She also assists owners corporations, engineers, strata managers and individual property owners.
Qualifications
Susan has a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Newcastle. Susan has also obtained a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety from the National Safety Council of Australia.
Life before Sparkes
Susan has been working at Sparke Helmore since she was admitted in 2010. She originally joined the firm as a summer clerk in 2008 and started in Sparke Helmore's graduate program in 2010.
Life outside of Sparkes
Susan enjoys keeping fit and can regularly be found camping, hiking and staying active in the gym.
