Stefanie is a maritime and shipping specialist who advises governments, shipowners, P&I clubs and specialty insurers on transport-related disputes. She has been recognised in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a Recommended Lawyer – Shipping.
What she does
Stefanie advises on admiralty and maritime related disputes. She has experience in contentious matters ranging from marine pollution claims, marine and non-marine insurance, charterparty and bills of lading disputes and ship arrest. She also defends criminal proceedings in the heavy vehicle sphere.
Stefanie has acted on behalf of clients in the federal jurisdiction and most states across Australia, in both superior and lower courts.

Qualifications
Stefanie has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.
Life before Sparkes
Before joining Sparke Helmore in 2021, Stefanie was the Associate to two judges in the superior courts, including a leading admiralty and maritime law judge of the Federal Court of Australia. She is a Research Affiliate to Sydney Law School and has tutored in environmental law.
Life outside of Sparkes
Stefanie is an avid outdoors enthusiast who in her spare time can be spotted hiking, rock climbing or cycling.
