Shane is a senior dispute resolution and insolvency lawyer in our Corporate and Commercial team. He assists clients across a range of disputes, always with a focus on commercial outcomes, and has a broad practice in all aspects of insolvency and restructuring.
What he does
Shane advises and represents clients from SMEs to institutions across a range of disputes, including general contractual disputes, Corporations Act issues, property disputes (including planning and environment disputes, land resumption and compensation disputes) and defamation. He also assists insolvency practitioners (and others) in all aspects of insolvency.
Shane has specialist expertise representing clients in regulatory prosecutions and in professional disciplinary jurisdictions acting for regulators and individuals.
Who he works with
Shane works with SMEs, institutional clients, developers, professionals, occupational regulatory bodies and more. He also works with insolvency practitioners, lenders, creditors and directors on all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency, corporate restructuring and insolvency disputes.
Qualifications
Shane has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology.
Life before Sparkes
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Shane was a partner at ClarkeKann Lawyers. He had previously practised at Deacons (now Norton Rose Fulbright) and McCullough Robertson Lawyers, as well as spending some time practising in-house at Cape PLC in the UK.
Life outside of Sparkes
When he’s not running around after his three young children, Shane enjoys good (and bad) wine, sharing a meal with family and friends, and organising the next holiday (usually to a beach or a ski field).
