Rossana regularly advises and represents the public and private sector on work health and safety (WHS) issues, compliance and WorkCover prosecutions. Having worked as the principal lawyer in the prosecutions branch of WorkCover NSW, Rossana understands what this regulator is striving to achieve and how to engage with it.
What she does
Rossana's experience as a senior WHS adviser, combined with the insights gained as a WorkCover NSW prosecutor, gives her a unique insight into the regulatory and prosecutions process. This deep knowledge of the processes helps her guide clients facing difficult situations, such as safety incidents, alleged breaches and prosecutions, to make appropriate decisions.
Rossana also uses her skills as a litigator to help individuals required to give evidence in public and private inquiries before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
Who she works with
Rossana advises employers and managers in the public and private sector and predominantly those based in NSW.
Qualifications
Rossana has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws degree.
Life before Sparkes
Rossana previously worked as a criminal lawyer in private practice before joining WorkCover NSW, where she worked for several years and was the principal lawyer in the prosecutions branch.
Life outside of Sparkes
Rossana is a self-confessed sci-fi geek who also loves contemporary music. She was distraught by the break-up of Powderfinger, and has only recently put it behind her.
