Nell is a senior commercial litigator, with over 15 years’ experience in dispute resolution. She has a particular focus on contentious personal and corporate insolvency matters, as well as director and shareholder disputes, and debt recovery litigation.
Nell’s work spans a wide range of commercial disputes, from small value claims to significant and complex commercial or insolvency proceedings. Regardless of the size or nature of the claim, Nell approaches all matters with a results-driven attitude and commercial perspective, seeking to minimise risk and impact on productivity and costs for her clients. She regularly appears in New South Wales courts at all levels, and in the Federal Court. She is a strong proponent of utilising alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to achieve efficient and effective results for her clients.
Nell works with a broad variety of clients, from corporate entities and individuals, including directors and shareholders, to insolvency practitioners, creditors and stakeholders.
Nell has a Diploma in Law from the Legal Profession Admission Board, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and an Advanced Certification in Insolvency from ARITA.
Nell joined Sparke Helmore in July 2020 with Laycock Burke Castaldi Lawyers, a boutique Newcastle firm. In the past, she has worked at another national firm in Newcastle, a top regional firm in the United Kingdom, and at a mid-tier firm in Sydney.
Between the demands of life with three young daughters, Nell keeps busy as the president of the school P&F, a director of a local not-for-profit, and the manager of a junior soccer team. She is also very engaged in politics, having stood as a candidate in the 2019 Federal Election for her local division.
