Mark has broad experience across the general insurance sector with a particular interest in large and complex disputes involving novel or difficult aspects of the law. His current focus is professional indemnity and first party disputes.
What he does
Mark works on litigious and regulatory matters in a range of jurisdictions across insurance, construction, coverage disputes health, allied health, other professionals and liability matters. Mark approaches each claim on its own terms and seeks the most efficient resolution. Where appropriate he uses his background in economics and statistics to provide added value for his clients.
Who he works with
Mark works with the large Australian and London general insurers and also with other niche and specialist insurers.
Qualifications
Mark has a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Economics and Econometrics from The University of Melbourne.
Life before Sparkes
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Mark worked with other national firms across a range of different insurance lines involving liability, heath work and dust diseases matters. His career has had a sole focus on general insurance work.
Life outside of Sparkes
Mark is kept busy with his young family and catching up with family and friends, whenever possible. He is an avid AFL fan who supports Essendon but has to admit the last decade or so has not been easy. He enjoys trying new restaurants and a glass of good red.
