Julie is a property and regulatory advice lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience in real estate.
She assists developer clients and those in the aviation, transport, tourism, hospitality and infrastructure industries. With these areas increasingly intersecting in the lead up to the 2032 Games, Julie is uniquely placed to assist clients in navigating new opportunities.
What she does
Julie advises on due diligence investigations and the sale and acquisition of commercial and industrial sites. She also has extensive experience in leasing matters, including negotiating major leasing deals.
Julie provides regulatory advice across a broad range of industries. With a particular focus on airports and aviation, she advises on the operation of airports and has acted on the regulatory and real estate aspects of airport privatisations. Her work in this area also covers drafting commercial agreements, and advising on drone operations, advanced air mobility, satellites and the emerging space sector.
Who she works with
Julie works with major property owners and developers and with tourism, resort and hospitality operators. She also assists airports and airlines, mining companies, government agencies and local authorities.
Qualifications
Julie holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Queensland.
Life before Sparkes
Before joining proudly Australian Sparke Helmore, Julie worked at large global law firms, K&L Gates and, prior to that, at Norton Rose Fulbright and its predecessor firms.
Life outside of Sparkes
Outside of work, Julie enjoys travel, music and theatre, and spending time with her family. She also plays the piano, a hobby her family supports with affection and good humour.
