Georgia has more than eight years’ experience as an employment and work health and safety (WHS) lawyer in the Adelaide team. Georgia prides herself on her ability to provide timely and practical advice to employers in a wide range of industries, whether that be defending a client in a safety prosecution or resolving a dismissal dispute.
What she does
Georgia assists clients in complying with their obligations under industry specific legislation and reaching commercial outcomes in disputes.
She provides advice on WHS policies and procedures, as well as safety compliance and training. When safety incidents occur at a worksite, Georgia can assist with establishing legal professional privilege and commencing internal investigations, representing clients during police or regulator interviews, and defending the matter if charges are laid.
Georgia specialises in employment matters, including drafting and interpreting contracts, performance management, redundancy, bullying and harassment claims, and discrimination and dismissal disputes.
Georgia’s expertise across various WHS and employment law issues means that she is ideally placed to support clients with complex legal issues that may arise.
Who she works with
Georgia assists employers (including CEOs, HR representatives and senior managers) across a variety of industries, including all levels of government, transport and logistics, retail, hospitality, medical and manufacturing.
Qualifications
Georgia has a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Adelaide.
Life before Sparkes
Georgia joined Sparke Helmore as a law clerk whilst at University and has been with the firm ever since. Before joining Sparke Helmore, Georgia was considering a career in science but instead found her passion for Workplace law.
Life outside of Sparkes
Outside of work, Georgia dedicates her time to her family and caring for her young son. She enjoys exploring SA’s wine regions and trying out the latest restaurants Adelaide has to offer.
