Quality and consistency through collaboration

Dive In is a global movement in the insurance sector to support the development of inclusive workplace cultures. Its mission is to enable people to achieve their potential by raising awareness of the business case and promoting positive action for diversity in all its forms. This year’s theme is #ActiveAllyship.

Since its birth in 2015, Dive In has grown exponentially, reaching global heights with events taking place across 32 countries world-wide, attracting more than 10,000 people.

“As an ongoing demonstration of our commitment to progressing the Diversity and Inclusion agenda, Sparke Helmore is proud to be a local event partner of Dive In, collaborating with our clients to keep the conversation going on these incredibly important issues.” (Gillian Davidson, Commercial Insurance Partner and D&I Advisory Committee Chair)

This year’s festival theme—“ActiveAllyship”—highlights a need to create and empower diversity and inclusion “allies” to take action, rather than just talk. We are delighted to once again join forces with our clients, Gallagher and Zurich, to bring to life two important events during the festival on the topic of LGBTQIA+ allyship.

The two events are:

Unlikely Allies—with Zurich on Wednesday 22 September 4 pm – 4-45 pm (AEST)

We’ve got a fantastic line up of speakers who will talk about some of those “unlikely allies” within the LGBTIQA+ community, and share their stories of how and why they have come to be such an important part of our rainbow world. Speakers include:

  • Linda Griffin, Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Zurich

  • Coco Jumbo, Sydney based Drag Queen featured on Ru Paul’s Drag Race

  • Shannon Byrnes, former Geelong Premiership player and Player Development Manager at Melbourne Football Club and Committee Member at Stand Up

  • Jon Owen, CEO at Wayside Chapel

The Critical Role of Active LGBTIQA+ Allies—with Gallagher on Thursday 23 September 4pm-6pm (AEST)

In this session our panellists will discuss the importance of allies and the role they play to advance an inclusive culture. They will share personal stories and experiences of active vs passive allyship and how to move from being a passive ally to an active one. Speakers include:

  • Kiley Hodges, Partner and LGBTQIA+ Executive Sponsor at Sparke Helmore Lawyers

  • Chris Smeed, CEO at Cubiko

  • Philip Jackson, HR Manager at Queensland Investment Corporation

Dive In will run from 21 to 23 September.  To register for our  “Unlikely Allies” livestream event,  The “Critical Role of Active LGBTIQA+ Allies” in-person event in Brisbane and other great sessions on offer, visit the Dive In Festival website.
