Quality and consistency through collaboration

Sparke Helmore is pleased to have advised the Australian Telecommunications Alliance (ATA) on its merger with the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA), which was unanimously approved by the Boards of both ATA and AMTA and successfully completed on 30 June 2026.

This merger marks a significant milestone in the broader telecommunications industry in Australia, having established a unified industry voice that provides comprehensive coverage of regulatory, technical and operational matters while also strengthening the sector’s ability to advise on the capabilities of Australia’s critical digital infrastructure, including fixed-line, mobile, and satellite connectivity, and issues relating to mobile devices and other services provided by the sector.

The Sparke Helmore team was led by Sally Weatherstone (Partner), alongside Sophie Luo (Senior Associate), Alexandra Vincent (Lawyer) and Joshua Beattie (Law Graduate).
