We are pleased to welcome Patrick Tuohey to Sparke Helmore as a Partner in our Specialty Lines Insurance team, effective 27 October 2025.

Patrick specialises in insurance law, predominantly in the professional indemnity space.  He defends claims against a wide range of professionals, with a particular focus on claims against solicitors and barristers, as well as accountants, mortgage brokers, real estate agents, and those in the construction industry. Patrick’s practice includes both large and small claim matters in all Victorian courts and tribunals, and in federal jurisdictions.  He also provides coverage advice to insurer clients on a range of policies and insurance issues.

Patrick is consistently recognised for his expertise in Doyle’s Guide – Preeminent category for Professional Indemnity Lawyers in Victoria – and also in Best Lawyers in the areas of insurance law, legal malpractice litigation, and professional malpractice litigation.  He regularly publishes articles on his area of specialisation and presents at seminars and CPD sessions around risk management for professionals.

Patrick brings with him a Special Counsel, Hilary Stokes.

Patrick joins us from Colin Biggers & Paisley and will be based in our Melbourne office.
