Tristan’s practice focuses on complex multiparty disputes in commercial insurance defence and coverage advice.
What he does
Tristan advises on a range of commercial insurance disputes, including professional indemnity, financial lines, general and products liability, property damage, industrial special risks, accident & health and life insurance. He has represented clients in the High Court and Federal Court of Australia, Supreme, District and Local Courts of NSW and other jurisdictions across Australia, and in alternative dispute resolution, including conciliation, mediation and arbitration.
Who he works with
Tristan works with insurers and reinsurers in Australia and overseas, including underwriters, brokers and third-party claims administrators in the London market.
Qualifications
Tristan has a Bachelor of Law & Administration from the University of Newcastle and a Diploma of Law from the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board (University of Sydney).
Life before Sparkes
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Tristan worked at various firms in professional risks, general liability and life insurance, including HWL Ebsworth, Hicksons and Ashurst.
Life outside of Sparkes
Tristan’s weekends are spent with family, catching up with friends, when not swimming, trying to write songs and playing music or listening to podcasts.
