Stephanie specialises in planning and environment law, with a particular focus on Land and Environment Court litigation and assisting local government clients to understand their statutory duties and powers.
What she does
Stephanie advises local councils, property developers and state government authorities on the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 (NSW) and other environmental legislation. She regularly conducts litigation in all classes of the Land and Environment Court, including judicial review matters, civil enforcement and criminal prosecutions.
Who she works with
Stephanie works with suburban and regional councils in NSW, state-owned corporations, planning consultants and property developers.
Qualifications
Stephanie has a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology.
Life before Sparkes
Before joining the firm in 2012, Stephanie worked as a lawyer in a general practice in regional Queensland as well as with Legal Aid as a duty lawyer in the Dalby Magistrates Court.
Life outside of Sparkes
Stephanie plays ice hockey for the Newcastle Northstars and enjoys participating in ocean swims and triathlons. She is a supporter of the Vancouver Canucks and North Queensland Cowboys—having previously lived in Vancouver and Townsville, before relocating to Newcastle.
