Shelley advises on Commonwealth workers' compensation and administrative law. She manages matters from their inception to contested hearings in both the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Federal Court.
Shelley specialises in Commonwealth administrative law litigation, managing complex applications in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, and appeals in the Federal Court. She provides strategic, analytical, and tailored advice at each stage of the administrative review process, navigates challenging legislative and policy issues, and handles scheme significant cases that affect the wider interests of Commonwealth agencies. Shelley regularly appears as a solicitor-advocate in alternative dispute resolution and substantive hearings.
Shelley works closely with Commonwealth Government departments, corporate Commonwealth entities, insurers and self-insured licensees.
Shelley has a Bachelor of Media and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Macquarie University, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from The College of Law.
Starting at Sparkes as a summer clerk and then joining the graduate program, Shelley gained experience in commercial litigation, compulsory third party insurance and major claims, and employment and safety law, before finding her passion in administrative law.
One of Shelley's great loves is music. She spends much of her spare time listening to it, reading and talking about it, and seeing it live. Shelley will otherwise be found wining and dining with friends and family at Sydney's bars and restaurants.
