Sheila is an experienced litigator in the insurance sector with an extensive background and knowledge of insurance matters relating to personal injury law. She specialises in tailoring legal advice to help clients navigate and defend against complex legal matters. She takes pride in building long-lasting, genuine connections with her clients to provide guidance and support throughout their claims.
Her dedication to the insurance industry is reflected in her membership in various industry organisations such as the Australian Insurance Law Association, Women in Insurance and the Claims Discussion Group. Additionally, she regularly participates in industry seminars and is open to opportunities to engage with clients and the insurance industry.
Sheila has previously been seconded to the dispute resolution team of one of Australia’s largest insurance companies, where she provided complex and technical legal support for high-profile claims and gained significant legal and commercial insights into the sector.
What she does
Sheila has experience acting for insurers and their clients in defence of personal injury claims. She deals primarily with litigated matters across a range of jurisdictions. She regularly appears in complex and often multi-party litigation, including hearings in the Personal Injury Commission, District and Supreme Courts of NSW, ACT Supreme Court and NSW Court of Appeal.

Life before Sparkes
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Sheila was a highly experienced litigator acting for plaintiffs and complex multi-party matters in all areas of injury claims, including medical negligence, product liability, public liability, motor vehicle claims, workers’ compensation, work injury damages, common law, total and permanent disablement, and superannuation claims.
Life outside of Sparkes
Sheila loves wandering museums and galleries, topped off with shopping always. She can be found at the beach with a good read, travelling with family and friends or indulging in a good sci-fi film. She also loves learning about cooking and particularly enjoys a traditional dish with her family and friends.
