Scott McDonald has more than 30 years' commercial litigation experience. He works on complex commercial disputes, competition law litigation, alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy and insolvency. He also practises in the emerging field of international commercial arbitration with a particular focus on cross-border trade disputes.
Scott provides regulatory advice to publicly listed companies, and their directors and officers, on statutory notices or examination requests from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Stock Exchange and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
As a commercial litigator, Scott acts for a range of large public and private corporations, government authorities, SMEs and individuals engaged in commercial activities or exercising corporate governance in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, banking and financial services.

Scott has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and has attended Harvard Business School.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Member of the Consumer and Commercial Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Scott was a senior partner in the Litigation and Regulatory team at DLA Piper, where he spent more than 30 years of his career in practice and management.
Scott has a partner, Virginia, and four children. On weekends, you'll find him either at the cricket or opera, on a plane or sharing a bottle of Corsican Vermentino with friends.
