Rhiannon is an experienced commercial litigator and insurance lawyer. She specialises in complex commercial disputes and regulatory investigations, and insurance coverage and defence matters with a focus on financial lines insurance claims. Rhiannon has extensive knowledge of the Australian financial services industry including the insurance, reinsurance and insurance broking sectors.
What she does
Rhiannon represents Australian companies and their directors and officers in defending commercial disputes and responding to regulatory investigations and proceedings. She advises local Australian and overseas insurers and reinsurers on coverage and defends their insureds in relation to financial lines claims including directors’ and officers’ , professional indemnity, management liability, warranty and indemnity , employment liability and errors and omissions claims.
Who she works with
Rhiannon works with Australian corporates across a wide range of industries and their directors and officers, and with Australian and overseas primary and excess insurers and reinsurers.
Qualifications
Rhiannon has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (International Studies – French) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Life before Sparkes
Before returning to Sparke Helmore, Rhiannon worked for global and top-tier law firms and spent five years working inhouse at a global financial services and insurance broking firm where she was their Head of Litigation, Pacific. Rhiannon has also done a secondment in the financial lines claims team of a London market insurer based in Sydney.
Life outside of Sparkes
Rhiannon becomes a taxi driver for her two young children on the weekends. She enjoys playing tennis and hopes to play soccer again one day (when her taxi driving duties ease). She also loves true crime podcasts.
