Matthew is a property lawyer who specialises in property development as well as acquisitions and disposals. He has a keen interest and passion for the broader property industry and market, which allows him to provide his clients' with quality legal and commercial advice.
Matthew was recognised by the Doyle’s Guide as 1 of 17 Australian Property & Real Estate Rising Star Lawyers of 2020. The Doyle’s Guide rankings are compiled by senior property partners, barristers and in house counsel.

Because of his diligence, timeliness and personable approach, Matthew is often the first point of contact when new matters arise for existing clients.
Matthew advises his clients on a full range of property transactions. His expertise includes property development, retirement living, strata and community titling, commercial and residential acquisitions and disposals body corporate advice as well as bankruptcy, insolvency and trustee related sales.

Qualifications
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Relations) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology.
Life before Sparkes
Matthew was one of the 25 members from ClarkeKann Lawyers Brisbane who joined forces with Sparke Helmore in September 2019 to bolster the Corporate & Commercial practice in Brisbane.
Matthew commenced his legal career at ClarkeKann Lawyers in June 2012 and became an Associate in 2015, then a Senior Associate in 2017
Life outside of Sparkes
Matthew is a passionate sports enthusiast and he is most loyal about his mighty Geelong Cats. If it’s competitive, Matthew will watch it. His favourite sports are AFL, cricket, football and Formula One; although his playing days are now limited to touch football and golf.
Matthew loves spending time at home with his wife and a glass of red wine in the evening and curating his lawn in the day. (Lords would be jealous!)
