Jon Tyne

What he does

Jon advises Australian and international insurers on coverage under professional indemnity, directors' and officers', management liability, and warranty and indemnity policies. He acts as defence counsel for their insureds who are professionals, usually in the financial or legal sectors, or directors and officers. Jon spent nine months on secondment with a global insurer in its Australian financial lines team.

Jon acts for insureds and other clients involved in regulatory investigations. He acted for a global client in the Banking Royal Commission. More recently, he has acted in several significant reinsurance disputes including arbitrated matters.

Qualifications

Jon has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Life before Sparkes

Before joining Sparke Helmore in 2010, Jon worked in the dispute resolution group of an international firm. Before that, he was a tipstaff to an NSW Supreme Court judge.

Life outside of Sparkes

Jon's life is mostly absorbed by the demands of two young children, but he still finds time to catch up with old friends and indulge his addiction to podcasts.
