Jon is an experienced litigator and insurance lawyer. He advises Australian and international insurers on policy interpretation and coverage, and acts for their insureds. His focus is on complex claims and investigations in the areas of professional indemnity, and directors' & officers' (D&O). Jon also has substantial general commercial litigation experience, for example he has acted for Commonwealth agencies on disputes arising from large procurements and for corporate clients in significant commercial disputes.
Jon advises insurers on coverage under professional indemnity and D&O policies and acts for their insureds, who are typically directors, professionals or financial services industry clients involved in complex, high-value claims or investigations. He has a background in general litigation and has acted for clients in the government and private sector in a range of commercial disputes.
Jon works with Australian and international insurers, government agencies and the financial services sector.
Jon has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Before joining Sparke Helmore in 2010, Jon worked in the dispute resolution group at Herbert Smith (now Herbert Smith Freehills) in London. Before that, he was a tipstaff to a NSW Supreme Court judge.
Jon's life is mostly absorbed by the demands of two young children, but he still finds time to catch up with old friends and indulge his addiction to podcasts.
