Having years of experience working in several large Commonwealth Government agencies, both as a lawyer and otherwise, Jason believes that good advice often involves thinking outside the box, while simultaneously adapting to the constraints at hand.
What he does
Jason is the first point of contact for his clients, utilising his government expertise to manage client contracts, identify legal and commercial risks, and otherwise providing encompassing project support.
Embedded in-house with client teams, Jason manages and advises on significant matters ranging from the commercial such as procurement, to the contractual such as contract disputes and negotiations.
Jason’s robust relationship management skills and firm belief in versatility and adaptability enables him to quickly build trust with his clients and means he is highly familiar with the myriad daily challenges faced by Commonwealth clients on any given day.

Qualifications
Jason has a Double Degree and Graduate Diploma from the Australian National University – Bachelor of Laws/Commerce, and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.
Life before Sparkes
Jason grew up working the front till of his parents’ restaurant where he noted he had a talent for building rapport with customers.
Pre-admission as a lawyer, Jason volunteered at the Youth Law Centre of Legal Aid ACT and also worked as a receptionist for a national law firm.
Following his admission, Jason worked in legal policy and privacy for Commonwealth departments, quality assurance in the National Redress Scheme, before finally trying something new in providing commercial and contract advice to Commonwealth clients.
Life outside of Sparkes
Outside Sparke, Jason divests himself of his veneer of professionalism and dons the mantle of a hip-hop dancer whose best days are behind him (Dance Club President, Best Club Award 2016). His cherished wife often wonders at the dichotomy of the man.
