In recent years Jason has advised clients on the implementation of large scale digital transformation projects, helping them to navigate privacy, information security and data related issues. Jason’s practice also spans the telecommunications and digital infrastructure sectors where he has advised on telecommunications build and construction contracts; acted for Councils in the rollout of EV charging infrastructure and land access arrangements; and advised on distribution and consultancy arrangements for the supply of data centres modules.
Jason also works closely with the firm’s M&A team, advising on the information technology aspects of corporate transactions, including on transitional services arrangements, IT separation arrangements and data sharing agreements.

Jason has a broad client base of primarily blue-chip companies based in Melbourne and Sydney.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws (Honours) & Commerce (Marketing), from the University of Auckland.
Life before Sparkes
Prior to joining Sparke Helmore, Jason was a member of the TMT team at an international top-tier firm based in Melbourne. Jason has also worked for top tier law firms in the UK and New Zealand, as well as in-house in the UK at a leading international insurer.
Life outside of Sparkes
Jason is an avid runner and loves exploring new routes around Melbourne. He completed his first ultra-marathon in 2024, but it didn’t quite go to plan as temperatures reached the mid 30’s. He is still planning redemption. When not out running, he is often being run ragged by his two young boys or can be found shouting words of encouragement from the sidelines.
