Hugh is a property lawyer who specialises in advising developers on all stages of a property development, as well as investors on acquisitions and disposals of commercial, industrial and retail sites.
What he does
Hugh advises on all aspects of the property development lifecycle from site acquisitions (including option and sales contract negotiations), community titling and body corporate structuring, off-the-plan sales and negotiations, joint ventures (including incorporated and unincorporated), development finance, and englobo development site sales.
Clients appreciate Hugh’s friendly demeanour, prompt advice and ability to consider the commercial realities of a matter, not just it’s legal issues.
Who he works with
Hugh works with a wide range of clients, including property developers, local and national landlords and tenants, property fund managers and high-net wealth individuals.
Qualifications
Hugh holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations).
Life before Sparkes
Hugh has been with Sparke Helmore since university and has progressed from paralegal through to Senior Associate. Prior to becoming a graduate lawyer, he also held clerkship roles with experienced and reputable mid-tier law firms in Brisbane.
Life outside of Sparkes
Outside of work, Hugh is an avid fisherman and cook. He enjoys touring and sampling the best of Australia’s wine regions with his wife.
