About Dianna

Dianna has more than 15 years' experience advising on the complex and constantly evolving development approval process in NSW. She assists local government clients with understanding their statutory duties, powers and immunities under planning and local government legislation. She also advises on a range of related environmental legislation, including the Protection of Environment Operations Act 1997, as well as on criminal prosecutions and investigations.

What she does

Dianna advises local councils, property developers and consultants on the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and other legislation that affects them. She regularly conducts litigation in all classes of the Land & Environment Court's jurisdiction.

Dianna works with city and regional councils in NSW, state-owned corporations, planning consultants and property developers.

Qualifications

Dianna has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree. She is also an Accredited Specialist in Planning and Environment Law.


Life before Sparkes

Before joining the firm Dianna studied law at the University of Newcastle and was a graduate lawyer at Minter Ellison Lawyers in Sydney.


Life outside of Sparkes

Dianna enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and much-loved dog “Sophie”. She also plays and coaches netball, and is a long-time supporter of the Sydney Swans.
