Borhan is a Special Counsel focused on infrastructure projects and major property developments, with particular focus on developing tenure solutions for Brisbane 2032 and its legacy. He works across complex stakeholder environments to turn ambitious projects into practical outcomes.
What he does
Borhan advises across the property lifecycle, with particular focus on tenure restructuring, asset and portfolio optimisation, major development projects, acquisitions and disposals, and complex leasing. He develops the legal architecture for difficult sites and projects, including sophisticated titling and tenure arrangements, and leads multidisciplinary teams through planning, infrastructure, government processes and stakeholder engagement.

Borhan works with listed REITs, fund and asset managers, developers, major corporates, financial institutions, airports, tourism operators and government clients.
Qualifications
Borhan holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in the Office and Practice of a Queensland Notary from Bond University.
Life before Sparkes
Before returning to Sparke Helmore, Borhan was Special Counsel at K&L Gates and previously founded and led a specialist property practice exclusively advising REITs. Earlier in his career, he practised at Mills Oakley and Norton Rose Fulbright.
Life outside of Sparkes
Outside work, Borhan lives for his three children and two kelpies. He also escapes to his cattle farm in Goondiwindi, restored with his sons, where he enjoys long days walking with his cattle and reading them Nietzsche because nobody else seems particularly interested.
