Andrew is an experienced banking and finance lawyer who has been recognised by Legal 500.
Having worked in banking and finance in Sydney, London and the Middle East, Andrew has a depth of expertise in cross-border club and syndicated financings for banks and borrowers involving many major and developing markets across all continents.
Andrew has finance experience in a wide range of industries, including oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), hotels, pubs and accommodation, residential and commercial real estate, aged care and health care, energy and utilities, infrastructure, agriculture, logistics, manufacturing and financial services.
What he does
Andrew has vast experience across real estate finance, construction and development finance, project finance, leveraged finance, corporate finance, restructuring, Islamic finance and asset finance. Following three years working in the Middle East, Andrew has built a niche practice in Islamic Finance. He also has significant experience in negotiating complex derivatives transactions and hedging programs for banks, investment houses, borrowers and insurers.

Andrew acts for retail and investment banks, non-bank lenders, listed and unlisted funds, sponsors and other corporates or investment vehicles.
Qualifications
Andrew has a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the Australian National University.
Life before Sparkes
Before re-joining Sparke Helmore in 2019, Andrew worked for a leading English law firm in the Middle East. Earlier in his career, Andrew worked at Sparke Helmore, Middletons (now K&L Gates) and Clayton Utz as well as in investment banking for Barclays Capital in London.
