Andrew is a senior legal practitioner, Notary Public and risk management and compliance expert. His experience includes management roles with Australian and global law firms, focusing on risk and compliance across Australian and Asia Pacific offices.
Andrew manages the firm's enterprise risk management framework and compliance program. He advises and provides training on strategic, legal and operational risks faced by the firm. This includes governance processes, risk identification and mitigation, client and practice management policies and procedures, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, information security, legal practice quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Andrew works closely with the Board's Audit and Risk Committee, senior management, partners, legal practitioners, managers and support staff.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Laws from Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide (First Class Honours).
He is a Notary Public and a member of both the New South Wales Law Society and the Society of Notaries of New South Wales.
Andrew started his legal career with the Commonwealth Government, before joining national law firm Blake Dawson as a senior associate. In this role, he specialised in corporate and government law, until he was appointed as the firm's national Risk Management Counsel. Most recently Andrew was a special counsel and Head of Group Legal Operations, Asia Pacific with global law firm, Ashurst.
Andrew likes to keep fit and active—in part because it allows him to indulge in great food and wine (preferably with good friends). He'd like to spend more time scuba diving or skiing, but instead spends far too much time as a human slave to the family dog (as other dog owners will be able to empathise).
