NSW extends construction working days again
18 June 2021From 11 June 2021 extended working days again apply to certain construction work, under the Environmental Planning and Assessment (COVID-19 Development – Construction Work Days) Order (No 2) 2021 (NSW) (Order), linked here. The extended days will remain in place until 31 March 2022, unless amended or revoked by a further order.
The Order, where there is a development consent or complying development certificate in place, permits the carrying out of:
-
building work or work (each as defined in the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (NSW)), or the demolition of a building or work, on Saturdays between 7 am and 5 pm, including specified noisy works (subject to any restrictions on noisy works hours under the relevant consent or certificate), and
-
a specified list of quieter work and administrative activities on Sundays between 9 am and 5 pm, including any indoor works that do not produce substantial noise.
All feasible and reasonable measures must be taken to minimise noise on Saturdays and Sundays, and the use of certain tools and equipment is not permitted on Sundays.
An earlier order extending working days in respect of work under other approvals remains in place. For further information, please see our previous Alert, here.
