Quality work and clients

As a lawyer, a key criteria in the selection of a firm will be the quality of it's work and client base. The matter list below is a snapshot of our recent work:

  • Cole Inquiry: Represented the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and its past and present officers, as well as AusAID, Austrade, and Ministers Vaile and Downer in the Commission of Inquiry established to examine possible breaches of law in relation to the UN Oil-For-Food Programme.
  • Telstra sale process: Acting as Process Adviser to the Department of Finance and Administration on the sale of the Commonwealth's remaining shares in Telstra. Previously, we acted in this capacity on the Scoping Study into the possible sale of the Commonwealth's remaining shares.
  • Babcock & Brown IPO: Advised BMD/Urbex in its involvement in the proposed $175 million Babcock & Brown Residential Land Partners IPO.
  • Venture capital: Advised a venture capital fund on a secondary management buy out of a company in the water technology space to replace an existing private equity investor. The venture capital fund (a $115M institutional fund) acquired 70% of the shares in the company.
  • Share acquisition: Advised a public company in the foundry and heavy engineering space on the acquisition of 100% of the issued shares in a scrap metal distribution business.
  • City Link, Melbourne: Advised SAAB-Combitech, the successful tenderer for the Electronic Tolling system on the $1.4 billion City Link, Melbourne Project. This was the first fully electronic tolling system to be implemented in Australia.
  • Lower Hawkesbury Sewerage Scheme: Advised Sydney Water on the preparation of the Delivery Deed and long-term Operations Deed between Sydney Water and Gosford City Council in relation to common use infrastructure owned by Sydney Water at Brooklyn.
  • Australian Rugby League Ltd: Acting for the Australian Rugby League Ltd who is the 14th defendant in proceedings commenced by Channel 7 - Seven Network Limited & Anor V News Limited & Ors [FCA]. The claim is for $1 billion plus and concerns the bidding process for pay television rights to broadcast AFL and NRL games.
  • Newcastle Council: Advising on the development and redevelopment of major public infrastructure as PPPs.
