Lani is an experienced commercial and insurance litigator, specialising in Professional Indemnity and Health. Lani leads the professional indemnity practice in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
What she does
Having carved out a niche practice in professional indemnity claims, Lani assists professional services specialists to defend claims made against them and regulatory complaints made to professional bodies.
Strongly committed to the insurance industry, Lani is the President of the Australian Insurance Law Association (SA Chapter) and a member of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group and the SA Law Claims Assessment Panel.
Lani has been recognised in Best Lawyers in Litigation and is recommended by Doyle’s Guide for her professional indemnity work.
Who she works with
Lani acts for medical and allied health professionals, lawyers, brokers, accountants, agents and builders (to name a few) across a wide spectrum of matters, including having advised on Royal Commissions and inquiries. She also provides advice on property liability claims and recoveries.
Qualifications
Lani holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Adelaide and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne.
She is admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia.
Life before Sparkes
Lani was admitted to practice in 2011 and has worked for a number of commercial litigation and insurance firms. She re-joined Sparke Helmore Lawyers in 2024.
Life outside of Sparkes
When not trying to prevent her truck-loving toddler from digging up the backyard, Lani can be found spending time with friends and family (champagne in hand).
