Martin has over 18 years’ experience as a commercial lawyer specialising in contract law, dispute resolution, commercial property and business law. He serves as a Director on the Board of the Sport Access Foundation and is a Trustee of the Fidelity Fund NT.
What he does
Martin advises clients on the full range of property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, due diligence, joint ventures, developments, easements, restrictive covenants and strata titling. He also provides advice on aspects of commercial dispute resolution, insolvency and corporate and commercial law.
Who he works with
Martin acts for civil contractors and construction groups, retail and commercial developers, owners and operators of hotels, accommodation and leisure venues, childcare facilities, and engaging across all levels of government.
Qualifications
Martin holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of New England. He also has a Diploma in Legal Practice and is admitted to practice in New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
Life before Sparkes
Prior to joining Sparke Helmore, Martin was a Partner at the Northern Territory’s largest legal practice and has also worked with national and top-tier law firms in both Darwin and Sydney.
Life outside of Sparkes
Outside of work, Martin and his wife are raising three children. He is passionate about sport and is an advocate for ensuring children with disability have equal access and opportunities to participate in sport. He is a lifetime member of the South Darwin Rugby Union Club and has notched up a few endurance events since retiring from rugby including the Lake Argyle Swim, the Gold Coast Marathon and the West Macs Monster run along the Larapinta Trail.
