Laura focuses on Commonwealth statutory classes of insurance and administrative law. She advises clients on a range of issues and regularly represents clients in litigated proceedings before the Administrative Review Tribunal and the Federal Court of Australia.
What she does
Laura advises clients on issues including statutory interpretation, litigation and administrative law. She is skilled at negotiating compromised outcomes through formal and informal processes, and where resolution is not possible has reached many successful outcomes following a substantive hearing.
Laura has also undertaken a secondment with a Commonwealth Government client, which included taking an active role in managing its high volume litigation practice.

Laura works with Commonwealth Government departments and agencies, insurers and self-insured licensees.
Qualifications
Laura has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney and a Juris Doctor from the University of Technology, Sydney. She is in the process of completing a Masters of Law at the Australian National University.
Life before Sparkes
Laura joined Sparke Helmore as a graduate lawyer in 2014. What seems like a lifetime before that, she was working in advertising at ACP Magazines. For a total change of pace, she decided to study law and obtained casual work with a sole practitioner while she completed her degree. Laura also has many years' experience working in hospitality and is known to put her cocktail making skills to good use at the occasional work function.
Life outside of Sparkes
Laura is a dedicated mother to a small rescue dog with a feisty personality and a devoted aunt to her nephews and niece. She loves to keep fit and particularly enjoys dancing and aerial sports.
