Kim provides strategic legal advice on industrial relations, employment and human resources matters. He is a member of the Industrial Relations Society of WA.
What he does
Kim advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters and represents clients before the Fair Work Commission, WA Industrial Relations Commission, Equal Opportunity Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission, Magistrates Court, Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court of Australia.
His expertise covers employment contracts and disputes, unfair and unlawful terminations, complex and sensitive workplace investigations including around issues such as redundancies and performance management, restraints of trade, workplace health and safety, general protections claims, enterprise bargaining, and discrimination matters.
Who he works with
Kim works with clients across a number of different industries including mining and resources, retail, engineering, utilities, education, life sciences, and not-for-profit. He also has significant experience providing advice to the public and local government sectors.
Qualifications
Kim has a Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch University and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia.
Life before Sparkes
Before joining Sparke Helmore in 2025, Kim was a Partner in the employment team of a global law firm with an Australian presence.
Life outside of Sparkes
Kim spends any spare time with his family, following their sporting endeavours or holidaying with them in the south of WA. His golden retriever, Beau, is always ready for a walk (or food!). Kim enjoys socialising with friends and following most things in politics. In the winter months, he is a persevering Fremantle Dockers supporter.
