Kathryn is an experienced lawyer who specialises in Commonwealth compensation, social security, administrative law and in the alternative dispute resolution space. She regularly appears as a solicitor-advocate in merits review proceedings in the Administrative Review Tribunal.
What she does
Kathryn provides strategic litigation advice in respect of Commonwealth compensation and administrative law matters. She works closely with clients to effectively resolve matters through alternative dispute resolution. Based on her extensive public service experience and various secondments, she has a thorough understanding of clients’ needs.
Who she works with
Kathryn advises and represents a broad range of Commonwealth Government departments, as well as agencies, insurers and self-insured licensees.
Qualifications
Kathryn has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Laws from Latrobe University. She also holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law and a Master of Laws from the College of Law.
Life before Sparkes
Kathryn has previously worked as a teacher and for government agencies before studying law. She then worked for Victoria Legal Aid in the Family Law team before joining Sparke Helmore in 2022.
Life outside of Sparkes
Kathryn enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends and she is proud to have passed on her passion for the Geelong Football Club to her children. In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys playing netball and contributing to sports at the grassroots level.
