Georgia manages various insurance claims, including motor vehicle injury, public liability and property damage claims, with a substantial part of her practice focused on personal injury. Georgia takes a practical approach to the resolution of claims, with objectivity and commercial nous.
What she does
Georgia advises clients on risk, strategy, liability, quantum, recovery, contribution, settlements, claims and coverage disputes, dual insurance and third-party claims.
Georgia has significant advocacy and negotiation experience, appearing in the District Court, the WorkCover Conciliation and Arbitration Service and instructing counsel in the Court of Appeal. She is involved in settlement discussions at conciliation, pre-arbitration, and pre-trial conferences on a regular basis. Georgia proactively develops and implements claim management strategies which result in early, cost-effective settlements of claims.
She is also responsible for the coordination of pro bono matters for our Perth office.
Who she works with
Georgia works with commercial insurers, self-insurers, employers, insureds, brokers, and the Insurance Commission of Western Australia.
Qualifications
Georgia has a Bachelor of Laws from Curtin University and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law.
Life before Sparkes
Georgia joined Sparke Helmore as a paralegal in 2017 and was admitted to practice in 2020. Prior to that, she clerked at a top-tier firm in the Workplace team and a mid-tier commercial firm. Georgia also volunteered at a local community legal centre in her spare time during law school, which is where her passion for pro bono work began.
Life outside of Sparkes
Georgia spends her spare time with her fiancé, Jack, and their cheeky golden retriever, Oli. Georgia loves travelling, reading, and enjoying good food and wine with friends and family.
