Fiona Nelson

What she does

Fiona’s property sector expertise includes acquisitions and disposals across retail, commercial, industrial, health, education, seniors living and hospitality sectors.  Fiona has extensive experience in property development including large-scale staged and mixed use developments, and strata and master planned communities as well as in bulk conveyancing, retail and commercial leasing, and co-ownership arrangements.  She also provides property and conveyancing legal services to large government entities.

Fiona is an experienced senior property lawyer who specialises in providing focused commercial solutions for Australian private and public sector clients as well as international clients.

Qualifications

Fiona has a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canberra as well as a Graduate Diploma of Urban Estate Management, Property Development from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Life before Sparkes

Before joining Sparke Helmore in 2026, Fiona was the National Practice Group Leader of the Property team of an Australian national law firm and General Counsel of Australia’s largest privately owned master planned community.

Life outside of Sparkes

Outside of work Fiona loves being outdoors and keeping active through a variety of sports. She enjoys exploring new places and making the most of new experiences with her family.
