Erica has experience defending a broad scope of general and complex personal injury, product and property damage claims commenced in the Federal, Supreme and District Courts of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. Erica specialises in general and catastrophic personal injury claims arising out of mining incidents, construction/building site incidents and incidents with respect to corrective and detention services.
What she does
Erica provides advice to a range of clients including major and local construction companies, mining companies, prisons, schools, churches, shopping centres, security companies, pubs and hotels, sports associations, manufacturers and suppliers, factories and state government agencies.
Who she works with
Erica’s role extends to defending both litigated and unlitigated claims and providing advice to clients including major Australian and London insurers and reinsurers, insurance brokers, insured and corporations, across multiple jurisdictions. Erica works hard to provide clients with excellent service and technical advice, focussing on a commercial approach to managing costs, risks and resolving claims.
Qualifications
Erica holds a double Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Foreign Languages from Radford University in Virginia, USA. Erica also holds a Diploma in Law from the University of Sydney.
Life before Sparkes
Erica migrated to Australia from Virginia, USA and has worked in two global firms prior to joining Sparke Helmore. Having practiced in Insurance Law in New South Wales since 2017, Erica has enjoyed navigating the Australian Courts.
Life outside of Sparkes
Erica likes reading crime fiction and watching crime documentaries. She also enjoys travelling the world as well as throughout Australia with her family.
