Catherine is a market leading lawyer in Canberra who has more than 15 years' experience in insurance litigation. She is attuned to her clients' needs and is known for her strong management and leadership skills.
Catherine advises on commercial insurance litigation in areas including public liability, professional indemnity, medical negligence and property damage. She also has significant expertise advising on CTP and major claims.
Catherine has been acknowledged as a leading Insurance lawyer in AFR's Best Lawyers 2019.
Catherine advises large insurers and the Commonwealth and Territory Governments. She regularly appears as an advocate in the ACT Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and Magistrates Court. She also frequently appears in the NSW Local and District Courts, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
Catherine has a Masters of Laws, a Bachelor of Arts/Laws and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University.
Before re-joining Sparke Helmore, Catherine was Location Head and a partner in the Litigation and Regulatory team in DLA Piper's Canberra office. Catherine was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the ACT Supreme Court in 2001 and has reciprocal admission in NSW.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys spending time supporting the economy in pursuit of the ultimate shoe collection. Much of her spare time is also spent wrangling animals on her small farm near Canberra.
