The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Australia is part of a global network spanning over 85 countries with more than 40,000 in-house counsel employed by more than 10,000 organisations. It is the peak national association representing the interests of in-house counsel working for corporations and government in Australia. ACC Australia works to provide its members and in-house lawyers, with the very best representation, advice, education and resources to further the profession.
National Conference and Awards
Each year ACC Australia hosts its National Conference and Corporate Lawyer of the Year Awards. These awards recognise excellence in the provision of legal services and the contribution made by in-house lawyers whether in government or business legal departments.
For several years Sparke Helmore has proudly sponsored the Government Lawyer of the Year award category. The award recognises government lawyers who have shown highest excellence beyond the expectations in the provision of legal services, leadership, overall contribution and knowledge of their government department.
The 2021 Australian Corporate Lawyer Awards were held virtually on Monday 8 November 2021.
Stuart Marris, National Government Practice Group Leader represented the firm at the event, which involved presenting the award to the winner—Aditi Kogekar, Deputy General Counsel, iCare—as well as addressing the attendees on the night.
Stuart said, “Our experience of working side by side with our government colleagues has given us an appreciation for the unique, highly scrutinised and politically charged environment in which they operate.
For Sparke Helmore’s Government team, and for me personally, it was a genuine honour to present the Government Lawyer of the Year Award, and show our support to the finalists and all of the nominees.”
We look forward to continuing our relationship with ACC in 2022.
