Rui Chen

What she does

Rui assists and acts for national and international insurers and corporations on a range of insurance matters, including indemnity, defence of litigated claims, subrogation and recovery. 

She has particular expertise advising on property, energy, construction and professional risks across the transport and infrastructure, engineering and construction, power generation and distribution, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors.

Qualifications

Rui holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from the University of Newcastle.

Life before Sparkes

Before joining Sparke Helmore in 2015, Rui spent four years at Allen & Overy as a commercial litigation and regulatory defence lawyer, acting for global and Australian corporates and financial institutions in commercial disputes, financial regulatory investigations and cases involving Australian and other Asia-Pacific regulators.

Life outside of Sparkes

Rui is committed to social justice and regularly volunteers at community legal centres and pro bono advice bureaus across Sydney. She likes to travel and enjoys learning about different cultures and cuisines.
