Piet, who is one of Perth's top insurance litigators, is highly experienced in advising on workers' compensation, property and business interruption, general liability and motor vehicle matters.
Piet's broader experience extends to insurance and liability claims management and handling the dispute resolution process for claims matters. He is a trial advocate and regularly represents insurers in all courts in Western Australia, including the Court of Appeal, in all insurance-related matters. He advises legislators on proposed legislation and large national and international insurers on policy wordings.
Piet also has experience in commercial litigation and property matters, and was involved in the liquidation of the Firepower companies in Australia and the British Virgin Islands.

Piet has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia. He is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association, the Law Society of Western Australia and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Piet started his career at Jackson McDonald, where he was a partner for 18 years. He was then a Founding Partner of Jarman McKenna—a boutique insurance law firm based in Perth that merged with Sparke Helmore in March 2017.
Piet is an avid supporter of the Fremantle Dockers. He has combined his passion for sport and interest in start-up companies as a shareholder of Pro Scout International—a leading scouting organisation in Australia for identifying and tracking young sporting talent in the AFL, NFL and English football leagues. He is also a Founding Director and Chairman of International Lubricant Distributors Pty Ltd, which is the sole distributor for Sinopec lubricants in Australia.
