Layla provides advice to government and private sector clients on employment, safety, contractual and regulatory matters. Her experience includes undertaking workplace investigations into conduct issues and whistleblower complaints as well as appearing and instructing in state and federal tribunals.
Layla regularly provides proactive advice to clients on a range of matters, including compliance and due diligence obligations, contract reviews and advising key stakeholders on responding to regulatory issues. She recently completed a secondment with a Commonwealth Government agency in its employment and dispute resolution team.
Layla takes a collaborative approach to her practice—she frequently works with and assists her interstate colleagues across various practice groups.
Layla is the Pro Bono and Community Coordinator in our Perth office and plays an active role in the firm’s pro bono program. She regularly assists vulnerable members of the community and not-for-profit organisations with employment and estate matters.
Layla advises in-house counsel, senior executives, general managers, human resources and safety personnel in the government, retail, manufacturing, mining and insurance sectors.
Layla has a Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch University and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law.
Before she joined Sparke Helmore in 2015, Layla worked in human resources, including for a national human resources consultancy in Perth and in-house for law firms in London. Layla’s earlier experience includes workplace investigations, policy development, people management and recruitment.
Layla enjoys listening to true crime podcasts and believes her law degree and countless hours spent watching Law and Order make her an expert armchair detective.
