Elizabeth has more than 12 years’ experience in commercial areas of law. She has a broad range of experience, having worked in the private sector, in house corporate as well as for the Commonwealth and ACT Government.
Elizabeth specialises in government and commercial contracting, procurement activities (including probity), preparation of tender documentation and tender evaluation, contract negotiation and drafting fit for purpose instruments, as well as compliance and risk advice.
Elizabeth is known for her practical and solutions-focussed approach to legal and probity matters. Her commercial litigation and dispute resolution experience has consolidated her skills as a commercial lawyer and she takes a nuanced and risk managed approach to all commercial law matters.
Elizabeth’s clients have predominantly included large Commonwealth Government agencies. She has also appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court, ACT Supreme Court and also various courts within the NSW jurisdiction.
Her clients have a great appreciation for her efficient, practical and solutions focussed approach to legal and probity issues as they arise.
Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws (specialising in Government and Commercial Law) from the Australian National University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (specialising in Sociology) from the University of Canberra.
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Elizabeth gained experience in the private sector, Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department, Australian Government Solicitor and in house working for Telstra. She also contracted for various departments within the Commonwealth Government in lead probity advisor and senior legal advisor roles.
Elizabeth founded (and operated for 10 years) an incorporated law firm with her practice specialising in commercial law, including commercial litigation and dispute management.
Elizabeth has found her creative outlet in experimenting with oils and water colours on canvas and she has successfully attempted various landscapes, which she decorates her home with. She also discovered another creative outlet through dance and has a particular interest in Argentine tango.
