Dalvin is a technology, data and government contracting specialist. He has more than 17 years’ experience advising on all aspects of technology sourcing, privacy, and government contracting, and has been recognised for his work in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific directory. Dalvin leads our Information Technology law team.
Dalvin helps clients come up with solutions to address commercial and legal risks, especially with the use of technology and data. He has acted for both vendors and procurers of technology, and has vast industry experience, which gives him valuable insight into commercial and risk drivers. This in turn allows him to adopt a pragmatic and values-based approach to the advice he provides, the documents he reviews, and the negotiations he leads.
Dalvin regularly speaks at client and industry events on technology, privacy, and commercial law topics.
Dalvin assists general counsel, commercial managers, privacy officers, compliance specialists, and chief information officers in a diverse range of industries including information technology, community and aged care, banking and financial services, healthcare, and government.
Dalvin has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Laws specialising in government and commercial law from the Australian National University.
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Dalvin was a senior lawyer at a global law firm. Prior to that, he worked at a number of national and international law firms and had various stints (on secondment) acting as a senior lawyer in various organisations including global banks, technology providers, and in the public sector. Dalvin previously convened and taught a Master of Laws course on Commercial Drafting at the Australian National University where he also taught Information Technology Law.
Dalvin is involved in the community and is a director of Community Options Australia where he is the deputy chairperson and member of the governance committee. Dalvin has a young daughter, along with two other “daughters” (of a furry and golden kind), who he draws his energy from.
