Cheree is a trusted litigation and dispute resolution specialist, who helps clients navigate disputes and achieve outcomes in their best interest—time and time again.
Whether commercial disputes, contested estates, bankruptcy and insolvency concerns or contract drafting and negotiation, Cheree is known for her full, frank and strategic advice, focussed on her clients’ needs and aims.
Cheree acts for clients in commercial disputes in all forms of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, arbitration and litigation. She has represented clients at all levels of NSW Courts and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal as well as the Federal Court. Cheree has represented principles, builders and contractors in Security of Payment arbitrations.
In contested estate disputes Cheree has represented Executors defending family provision and testamentary capacity actions. She has acted on behalf of several charities and beneficiaries to preserve bequests and ensure Executors fulfil their duties with due diligence.
Cheree represents Liquidators and Trustees to pursue voidable transaction claims and has also defended individual and corporate clients from such claims. She acts on behalf of creditors to recover debts and institute bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings where necessary.
Cheree’s clients include large corporations, Government Departments, Local Councils, SMEs, and individuals.
Cheree is an Accredited Specialist in Dispute Resolution with the NSW Law Society and sits on the NSW Law Society Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee for Dispute Resolution.
Cheree has a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and Arts (Double Major in International Relations and Spanish) and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University.
Before joining Sparkes, Cheree worked at Blake Dawson's Canberra office (now Ashurst). Cheree gained in-house experience through a secondment with a State Owned Corporation utilities provider.
Running after her young family and their beagle keeps Cheree active and outside, most often at the local park near the play equipment or gardening in her backyard. When she has a spare moment, Cheree loves to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine.
